Sainsbury’s Local stores are the smallest in the Sainsbury’s estate; typically around 4,500 sq ft gross (3,000 sq ft sales). They provide local people with quality, fresh, affordable food within walking distance of their homes and for those needing to top up their shopping.
We are actively pursuing new sites to expand our convenience store portfolio across the UK. We have one of the strongest covenants in the marketplace and a strong track record of working in partnership with agents, developers and landlords to open new stores.
Through this website, we want to give property professionals a clear picture of our requirements and how to work with us to deliver new convenience stores.
We also want to highlight some of the reasons why we believe a Sainsbury’s Local can make a valuable contribution to the high streets and city centres of Britain.

We have a flexible approach and will consider all types of properties and locations from existing business units and conversions to new and mixed use developments.
We pay competitive fees for successful introductions and will promise you a personal response from our acquisitions team within seven days.
We have an award-winning in-house team, who alongside our wide range of consultants are able to support and guide projects through acquisitions, planning, construction and opening.
We also possess technical expertise and knowledge in delivering travel plans, landscaping design, noise prevention, delivery management plans, power upgrades and much more.
Our convenience stores make a positive difference to local communities and we make sure we connect our business to the local area.
Our convenience stores create job opportunities, increase footfall which benefits both existing and new businesses, and support and work with local charities across the UK.
