Sainsbury's retains Platinum Plus status in BITC’s 10th CR Index

We are delighted to announce that we have retained Platinum Plus status in Business in the Community's (BITC) 2012 Corporate Responsibility Index (CRI), the UK's leading voluntary benchmark of corporate responsibility. We were the first food retailer to be awarded Platinum Plus in BITC's CRI as a result of the emphasis on long-term sustainability that underpins our commercial business strategy. We are proud to retain this status for 2012 as it demonstrates our continued commitment to corporate responsibility.

Stuart Wright, Sainsbury's Corporate Responsibility Manager said: "We are very pleased to have retained our Platinum Plus status from the Business in the Community. This demonstrates the way we are continuing to embed sustainability in our business and we will remain industry leading following the launch of our 20 by 20 Sustainability Plan last October, with twenty ambitious targets to achieve by 2020."
