Sainsbury’s leads the way by cutting 3p per litre off fuel and launches new promotion offering further 5p off per litre

Sainsbury's has announced that from tomorrow, Monday 21 May, it is to drop its petrol and diesel prices at its forecourts across Britain by up to 3p per litre. The retailer is also announcing that from tomorrow customers who spend £50 or more in store will receive a coupon entitling them to an additional 5p per litre off their fuel bill. Customers who spend £50 or more on groceries online will also receive a coupon.

This latest price cut, combined with the 5p per litre promotion, means that Sainsbury's has reduced the price at the pumps by up to 15p per litre in the last four weeks.

Richard Crampton, Sainsbury's Head of Fuel, said: "We know that fuel continues to be a big part of many household budgets and we are committed to helping our customers cut down on cost whenever we can. Wholesale fuel prices have dropped acrossEuropeand we are delighted to pass these savings onto our customers.

"We are committed to delivering great value on everything we sell and we hope that this latest price cut, combined with the 5p per litre promotion, will help families balance their budgets during the Jubilee celebrations and the long Bank Holiday break."
