Countdown to the Jubilee weekend as Piccadilly Circus goes strictly ballroom with a waltzing and jiving spectacular

Jubilee Family Fest flashmob

With just over a week to go until the Jubilee celebrations, London’s Piccadilly Circus was transformed this morning into a colourful ballroom as a swirling mass of dancers wearing union-flag dresses and white tuxedos waltzed and jived to the delight of early morning commuters.

The event celebrated the forthcoming Jubilee Family Festival Presented by Sainsbury's taking place in Hyde Park on 2 and 3 June which features the BBC's Strictly Come Dancing team and an Alfresco Dance area.

The Jubilee Family Festival Presented by Sainsbury's, organised by Harvey Goldsmith and hosted by Myleene Klass and Jon Culshaw, will be the perfect curtain raiser for the Diamond Jubilee celebrations and a wonderful environment for the whole family to enjoy all of the world-class entertainment on offer.

The event will feature a special Jubilee performance of the BBC'S Strictly Come Dancing hosted by Craig Revel Horwood. Winners of Strictly Come Dancing 2010 Kara Tointon and Artem Chigvintsev will partner again while 2011 finalist Chelsee Healey will be partnered for the first time with Strictly professional Robin Windsor.

The action packed and imaginative programme will also include: 'The Magic of Disney In Concert', a specially created 70 minute performance that brings together songs, music and characters that span over 70 years of animated and live-action Disney films; performances from the cast of multi-award winning Billy Elliot the Musical, appearances by the puppets and actors from the National Theatre's award-winning production of War Horse; a Commonwealth stage, Parade Ground, Kids Zone, Village Green and more.

English Gentleman on stilts, Singing Tea Ladies, Pearly Kings and Queens, Marching Bands, Face Painters, great British food and over 35 of Britain's favourite brands will be providing additional fun and entertainment with competitions, games and displays.

Enjoying the Jubilee celebrations to the full, visitors to the festival will be able to view the BBC live feed, on giant screens, of all of the Diamond Jubilee events on 2 June and 3 June.
