Food and waste recycling

Food and waste recycling

According to WRAP* 18.4 million tonnes of waste, costing £17 billion, is produced by the UK food and drink industry and UK households each year.

Landfill space is becoming ever more scarce and expensive. At the same time the concept of waste as a valuable resource to be reused is causing businesses to think differently about how to move beyond waste reduction to actively eliminating waste from the supply chain.

By 2020, we'll put all waste to positive use.

Fantastic to see that Sainsburys have signed up to send all waste food to anaerobic digestion rather than landfill.

I am really excited about Tamar Energy and would like to know if the public can invest. If it stops one ugly wind farm and uses material that otherwise would go into landfill it should please everyone. If people could invest it would also encourage them to recycle more.
